Ca’ Boffenisio was established in 1997 in the Oltrepò Pavese territory, municipality of Borgo Priolo, thanks to the enthusiasm of Maria Adele Galanti, who chose the stunning natural basin of Boffenisio to make a dream come true.
Today the Tenuta Ca’ Boffenisio is a middle-sized and highly regarded farm business for which quality is the most important value. Ca’ Boffenisio hosts 23 hectares of land, 9 of which vines, surrounded and protected by the Torre del Monte woods.
Vines have been planted in 1988-1999 with espalier/Guyot system and a planting density of 4,200-5,000 vines per hectare, according with their different species and with a moderrn agronomical approach. The choice of the clonal selection for the different type of vineyeards was performed after a careful analysis of the zonation of the soil, a calcareous clayey marl, so that Ca’ Boffenisio is home home today to both traditional species of vines –Barbera, Croatina, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Moscato- and international species -Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc- to produce typical wines of the territory as well as blended wines that are unique and typical of the Estate.
Strictly organic certified vinegrowing combined with Boffenisio microclimate and agro-environmental procedures are used to produce high quality grapes which will be then harvested by hand in boxes and bunches selection, according with the ripening curves.
The yield is only 40-50 quintals of grape per hectare, for a limited production of 50,000 bottles per year of red and white wines, all characterized by a strong, surprising personality.
